Delete your HookUs account.

There are two routes, and both end in the same thing: your HookUs account is closed permanently.

In the HookUs app. Open Settings, find Delete my account, and enter your password to confirm. We ask for the password even though you are already signed in, because a session can be left open on a device that is not yours. Deletion then happens immediately.

By email. Write to support@hookus.app from the email address on your HookUs account and tell us you want it deleted. Use this route if you use HookUs in a browser, or if you can no longer sign in.

For your protection, sending an email does not by itself delete an account. We check that the request really comes from the account holder before acting on it, and we may ask you for more information first. We will never ask you for your password or a verification code.

Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone — signing up again starts from nothing. If you only want to disappear for a while, deactivate instead.

Deactivating hides your profile from Discover and from everyone's Likes, and signs you out everywhere. Your chats and matches are kept, and signing back in brings everything back.

When you delete your HookUs account:

• Your profile is removed from HookUs and anonymised — your display name and bio are erased.
• Your photos and videos are hidden immediately and queued for permanent deletion from our media storage.
• Your stored location history is permanently deleted.
• Your likes, passes and Hooks are discarded, and your active matches are ended.
• Your discovery preferences are deleted.
• Every sign-in session is revoked and your devices are deregistered, so notifications stop.

We would rather tell you precisely than say "we delete everything" and be wrong. Some information stays after your account is closed.

• Messages you already sent. They remain in the other person's conversation. We cannot remove a message from someone else's inbox without rewriting their history of a conversation they took part in.
• Safety records. Reports, blocks, enforcement decisions and security events are retained. Deleting an account must not be a way to erase a record of harm to someone else.
• Your D8N sign-in identity. Your sign-in details belong to the wider D8N platform rather than to HookUs alone, so closing your HookUs account does not by itself erase them.

To ask us to erase your D8N sign-in identity, or anything else listed here, email support@hookus.app. We will assess the request and explain anything we are required to keep, and why.
